Explain that this document shows a crosswalk of the 3 instructional shifts identified in the common core. NY State has taken the 3 shifts and has further broken them down into 6 shifts in order to assist us in having a better understanding as to what is expected of each shift.
Have each person read the Shifts Crosswalk independently and complete the Reflecting Actions Handout.
Discuss what they recorded.
If time allows ask participants in small group to complete the Making Connections Notetaking Guide page 2 (What students would be doing and what teachers would be doing).
